The Coursebook 8th Edition is ServSafe’s academic textbook line, not the Manager Book, and it predates the 9th Edition’s 2022 FDA Food Code supplement and 2025 blueprint updates. A study plan built around it needs a dedicated review pass on those additions before exam day.
ServSafe publishes two book lines, not one called a “booklet”: the Manager Book, now in its 9th Edition under product codes ES9 and ES9SP, and the academic Coursebook, sold in 7th, 8th, and 9th Editions. Passing the Manager exam at 56 of 80 earns the credential, whichever book someone studied from.

The ServSafe Coursebook 8th Edition belongs to ServSafe’s academic Coursebook line, the one classrooms and instructor-led programs assign. The separate Manager Book has no 8th edition of its own, and both lines lead to the identical certification exam: 90 questions, 80 scored, a pass mark of 56.
The ServSafe Manager exam’s seven content areas are weighted 15/13/12/12/12/8/8, and the academic Coursebook used in classroom programs runs its own 7th, 8th, and 9th Edition line, separate from the Manager Book’s 7th Revised and 9th.
The ServSafe Manager Book never had an 8th Edition. It went from the 7th Edition Revised straight to the 9th, released for 2026 and built on the 2022 FDA Food Code supplement. The 8th Edition exists only in ServSafe’s separate academic Coursebook line.
