1. What this site is
ServSafePractice.com publishes practice questions, explanations and study material for people preparing to take ServSafe certification exams. That is the whole of it. We are a study aid, and everything below follows from that.
We are not ServSafe. This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to ServSafe, the National Restaurant Association, or the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.
ServSafe is a registered trademark of the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. We use the name only to describe which exams our material prepares people for, which is a descriptive use and not a claim of any relationship.
We cannot register you for an exam, access your official account, proctor a test, issue or replace a certificate, or look up your official results. If you need any of those, go to ServSafe directly.
2. Our questions are not the real exam
Every question on this site is written independently, by us, against the published exam structure and current food safety standards. None of it is taken from a live exam, and no independent site has access to live exam content. Anyone claiming to sell you real exam questions is either lying or committing a fraud you do not want to be part of.
What this means in practice: our tests mirror the format, the content areas and the difficulty of the real thing as closely as we can manage. They are not the same questions. You will not walk into the exam and recognise items from here.
3. A practice score is not a prediction
Scoring well here does not mean you will pass. Scoring badly does not mean you will fail.
A practice result is a study signal. Its value is in showing you which content area is costing you points so you know what to work on next. The percentage on its own tells you very little, and treating it as a forecast is the most common way people misread these tests.
We make no guarantee, express or implied, about your performance on any official exam, or about whether you will obtain any certification.
4. This is not food safety, legal or professional advice
Our material is written to help you pass an exam. It is not a food safety management system, a compliance manual, or a substitute for the rules that actually apply to your operation. For how to handle food safely in your workplace, follow your local health code, your employer's procedures and your regulatory authority.
Nothing on this site is legal advice, regulatory advice, medical advice or professional consulting. If a decision has real consequences for a business, a licence or a person's health, take it to someone qualified to advise on it.
Food safety rules also vary by state and by county, sometimes between neighbouring jurisdictions. A statement that is correct against a national standard can be wrong for where you work.
5. Certification requirements are set by others, not by us
Which certificate you need, whether a particular program is accepted, how long it stays valid and what your employer requires are all decided by your state or county health department and your employer. Those requirements change.
We cannot tell you which one you need, and you should be careful with any prep site that says it can. Confirm with whoever told you to get certified, and check the exact program name before you buy anything, from us or from anyone else.
6. We work at accuracy, and we do not claim perfection
Questions are written against official standards and reviewed before publication, and the process behind that is described on our editorial process and question creation pages.
Errors still happen. Exam standards are also updated, which quietly turns a correct page into a stale one. When we find an error we fix it, and when someone reports one we check it.
If you find something wrong, the correction form is the fastest way to get it changed. A report naming the test and question number can be checked the same day.
7. Links to other sites
Where we link to ServSafe, a health department, the FDA Food Code or any other outside site, we do it because it is the authoritative source and you should read it rather than take our word for it.
We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or what happens when you use them. A link is a pointer, not an endorsement, and it is not a guarantee that the page still says what it said when we linked to it.
8. Availability, changes and your own copy
We aim to keep the site running and cannot promise it always will be. Content changes too: questions get corrected, tests get revised, and material gets added or retired as standards move.
If something here matters to you, save it. Paid tests do not expire and retakes are unlimited, but that is a commitment about access rather than a promise that a specific question will exist unchanged forever.
9. Questions about any of this
If something on this page is unclear, or you think we have got something wrong, we would rather hear it than not.
